Boat Show Season Kicks Off with Optimism and Hot New Accessories for Your Vessel
Riva_33_SunrivaThe winter boat show season kicked-off last week in New York City where the hottest trends in all things watercraft were showcased alongside a new optimism for the boating industry.  The National Marine Manufacturers Association predicts that new boat sales will have ended higher in 2011 than they have for the last five years (read more here).  But as consumers test the boat-buying waters, they also continue to look for ways to accessorize the boat they already have, and 2012’s hot new boating gadgets don’t disappoint. Naples’ Boaters Choose Hamilton Harbor
Membership and Leasing Prices Set to Increase
We are excited to report that Naples’ area boaters continue to choose Hamilton Harbor as the place to store their boat and enjoy a carefree boating lifestyle.  As we begin our fourth season, the club's membership roster is quickly approaching 275, with 14 new members joining in December alone!
Because of the recent demand for a few of our most popular slip sizes, prices for these slip memberships will increase by 5% beginning January 31st.  We'll also be increasing slip lease pricing by $1.00 per foot on February 1st.  Slip leasing, which has started at $15 per foot since it's introduction three years ago, is a limited-time benefit of social membership.  These upcoming price increases make now the best time to consider membership at Hamilton Harbor!   Join by January 31st and receive 3 months free dues (slip members only).  For more information, please call Membership Director Pat Schulz at 239-775-0506 .

HH Chef Cultivates Culinary Skills with Star Chefs

L to R: Thomas Keller with HH Executive Chef Billy Hanzalik

Hamilton Harbor’s own Executive Chef Billy Hanzalik just returned from the 2010 International Chef’s Congress (ICC) where he cultivated his culinary skills with the likes of Thomas Keller of The French Laundry, part of our efforts to ensure HHYC members enjoy the best waterfront dining in Naples. The ICC is a three-day culinary symposium where more than 70 of the world’s most influential and innovative chefs and sommeliers, including Albert Adria of Inopia Classic Bar and Dan Barber of Blue Hill, present the latest techniques to their peers.

“Being at ICC just reinforced my belief that food should be prepared simply so that it can speak for itself,” said Billy. “It also reminded me that a chef’s passion for food is just as important to his dishes as the ingredients themselves.”

Florida Leads Big-Boat Market Rebound

February 2010
Florida Leads Big-Boat Market Rebound

Marquis_500_Sport_CoupeThere’s a rebound happening in the boating industry and Florida, deemed the hub of U.S. brokerage sales, is taking the lead, according to recent reports in Soundings Trade Only, a leading marine industry publication.
The first months of 2009 saw very low sales volume, but by mid-year, local big-boat brokers were able to surpass the monthly unit sales for 2008.  Valuations outpaced 2008 in the fourth quarter and by December Florida brokers led the big-boat market rebound, which has “bred guarded optimism about 2010."
This optimism hasn’t been so guarded in Naples, however.   Read more...

Bayshore Apartments- Out With The Old And In With The New!

If you’ve traveled down Bayshore Drive to visit the Naples Botanical Gardens (www.naplesgarden.org) or Hamilton Harbor ( www.hamiltonharboryachtclub.com)  in recent weeks perhaps you’ve noticed they are in the process of razing the 200 units of the old Bayshore Apartment complex.  This is welcomed news for everyone as it is a sign of progress for both Naples and the immediate area.  This will make way for the 37-acre Arboretum Village, a development that would feature a mix of residential and commercial space.  Arboretum was slated to have just over 400 residential units and 150,000 square feet of commercial floor space.  Later plans included a hotel and there has been recent talk of a performing arts facility.  This is a great piece of real estate located next to Windstar on Naples Bay (www.windstarclub.com) and only 2-3 miles to 5th Avenue shops and restaurants. Now that the buildings are coming down we can look forward to that being sooner rather than later.

Hamilton Harbor Yacht Club

Hamilton Harbor held a boat show on Saturday afternoon.  Having been invited inspite of the fact I know little about boats, my wife and I decided to attend just for fun.  Fun it was! There was great food and drink to go along with the dozens of beautiful boats on display.  All shapes and sizes were available for all to see and purchase if tempted.  They even had a Carribean Style Band to entertain, steel drums and all.

Hamilton Harbor (http://www.HamiltonHarborYachtClub.com) developed by Collier Enterprises, can accommodate 325 boats up to 50 feet long in this state of the art boathouse.  Built to withstand winds up to 150 miles per hour, this facility gives boat owners peace of mind.  In addition there are 35 wet slips for boats up to 60 feet in length.
Some of the boaters there told me this was the best location in Naples.  It's less than 10 minutes to Gordon Pass and provides the most convenient access to the Gulf of Mexico.

The forklift in the photo has a 55,000-pound capacity- one of the largest ever made for the marine industry.  I watched as it raised and lowered several boats into and out of the water about as easy as you or I would handle a toy.

The Club offers concierge services for boaters.  You can call ahead to have your boat fueled and prepped for launch, and at the end of the day the staff will care for and wash your boat prior to being stowed.

By the way social memberships are available for you land lovers out there.  This is a unique club and a beautiful facility that is just minutes from Olde Naples.  If you'd like to live nearby feel free to contact me and also please visit my web site for more Naples and real estate specific information.  http://www.markWsimoff.com.
